Being approached by the owners to reimagine LockKeepers was an opportunity to design and execute an extensive facelift of an iconic Cleveland restaurant. Featured items included extensive woodwork refinishing, new wall, floor, and ceiling finishes, drapery, artwork, accessorizing, as well as select furniture replacement. The inspiration came from the history of the Ohio Erie Canal system and of the venue itself in its various iterations.
Starting outside, I coordinated exterior trim restoration and painting, then designed the refinishing and refurnishing of the vestibule.
The Mahogany Bar was restored to a beautiful natural stain, with new furniture and a Copper ceiling adding to that luxurious feel of quality. New accent pendant and sconce lighting were selected to tie into the theme and coordinate with the existing Chandeliers.
The two dining rooms, The smaller LockKeepers Room and the River Room, are separated by a wall with custom commissioned stained glass windows and drapery panels.
The mural was commissioned from a local artist who interpreted old photos of the site. I designed the gallery wall to tell the story of the Ohio Erie Canal locks, as well as the previous owner of the establishment. Accessories reinforce the historic and eclectic environment.
The Banquet Prefunction Hall received new finishes, refinished serving station and new lighting.
